A project to improve the lives of young blind or vision impaired Australians by advocating, and coordinating information, for blind or vision impaired children/youth and their parents.
This page takes a look at exactly how the project will work, and also how many of our goals can be achieved.
here can be found writings from project members on or related to the topic of issues facing blind children and youth.
This weekend just gone, Amy Ni, Mathew Mirabella and myself presented our ideas for the project to the Blind Citizens Australia national Policy and Development Councel. Everyone seemed to agree with the issues facing young blind people, and all were in favour that this project would be both a good thing for young blind people, and for BCA.
Previously we had spoken with the BCA board about the project, and they were happy with it in principle, though they suggested we present to the National Polocy and Development Councel and get their recommendation.
At the end of our presentation to the councel, the decision had to go back to the board for one last approval. But, we have been assured that they will try and make their decision as quick as they can.
I would finally, in this post, like to take the time to thank all the people who have given us lots of constructive comments. We definitly have been thinking about all you have had to say. And please start thinking about if you, or anyone you know, might want to be on the steering committee. Although we are far from setting it up, we are starting to consider its structure and number of positions etc.
